My Mutant Powers Are Cooler Than Your Mutant Powers

Have you all noticed that Skye started using tags on her posts? Except they're not really general tags. They're stuff like "baby pictures." I don't know about Skye, but I'm not planning on posting a whole slew of baby pictures, so that post may be the only one that shows up in that tag.

But, just in case you were worried about "mutant powers" being a tag with only one lonely post, I'll respond about my mutant powers. Not to make Skye's powers sound feeble by comparison, but mine are so 5. See, Skye claims she can break electronic devices merely by looking at them. Impressive, I admit (and perhaps somehow related to the ability to shock things?), but I'm nothing if not a one-upper.

I can freeze people with my Ice Queen Glare. Perhaps not literally, but they usually at least stop what they are doing for a few moments, and sometimes run away once they gain back their senses. I think it's pretty cool. I'm not sure it's exactly a mutant power, because I'm pretty sure I inherited it from my mom. My mom is an avid concert-goer, and nothing annoys her more than a rude audience. If you happen to be sitting behind her and are being rude, woe unto you because she will unleash an Ice Queen Glare that makes mine look like a sheepish grin. I honestly think she could turn you to stone if she tried hard enough. I think the trick is already to have the Glare on your face when you turn around, and to hold it for a few seconds, perhaps with a low growl. I haven't mastered that part yet, but I'm working on it.

Anyway, I've mostly used my power on the opposite sex. In high school, I was cursed with the kind of personality that attracts pathetic puppy-dog boys looking for love from not-stunning girls. I believe that type is called Not Mean (or, alternately, "she has a nice... uh... personality"). So in order to get rid of them, my choices were either to Be Mean or to be passive aggressively mean by unleashing an Ice Queen Glare. And I've always been much better at passive aggressive than mean.

Skye's giving me lessons though. I'm working on it.

Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate Christmas. And I'm pretty sure that's all of you, since, to date, Skye's brother and my sister are the only two members of our vast readership who have made themselves known. At least we know we'll sell two copies when we're published. Rock on.

I made you my "Significant Other" on 43 people. I couldn't figure out what other category you fell into. :)
